Growing up in those days, we thought nothing of the future. During the summer months, under the Southern sun, the only thing that mattered was that we had each other. Those times were slower, easier. Raised on the Gulf Coast, the beach was our second home. But you loved that water so much more than me. As I left and moved on, you stayed. To work on the boat was your goal. I’m sorry you never got that promotion in time; you would’ve made a great captain. At your service, we cried. But I promise you, those tears dried up into smiles. My life is your life, my steps are your steps. I will continue moving forward for us both, my friend.
