How does one start to heal during the storm when you are not even given a second to breathe? Sometimes, I look back and wonder if I have been in the storm for most of my life. I grew up black as hell in the Deep South. I learned very early and quickly about my blackness and everything that came with that. I hate making everything about race, but they make EVERYTHING about race. Oh, and please don’t cry about it. You’re a man. You were born with two strikes against you already. Because of this, you have to be better than good; you need to be GREAT.

I’m tired of this. When and where do I start to heal from all of this? I think I have to look inside first; maybe that’s where my answers are. The peace I’m looking for starts within.
